Why Hats?
As a cancer survivor with a year of baldness in my past, I understand the
importance of comfort, affordability, and full head coverage in chemo headwear.
So, I take pride in ensuring that all my hats meet these standards.
What makes my hats special?
They are comfortable, up-to-date (you won't look
like you're wearing your great grandma's hat), guaranteed to provide complete
coverage, and VERY affordable.
Why did I create CJ Hats?
Was it because I love being able to express my
creativity? Or perhaps I wanted to provide women undergoing treatment with an
alternative to the expensive, frumpy hats I bought when I was in chemo? Could
it be that I need to earn money??? Why, yes, to all three statements. So please
buy a hat. You'll be doing both of us a service, and no one will appreciate
your business more than me.
I receive numerous emails from women who ask, "I (or my friend, sister, etc.) am starting chemo and am about to lose my hair. Which types of hats do you recommend? How many hats do I need? Why would I buy a cotton hat in the winter?"
Every woman should have at least four hats. I recommend my Terry Cloth Comfort Hat because it really is the most comfortable head covering one can wear. I also recommend a Hat Liner, because it can convert baseball caps, winter hats, etc., into chemo hats (it covers all the scalp that a regular hat doesn't). I'd also suggest a pretty print - because they're fun to wear. Lastly, everyone should have at least one solid color hat because one needs a solid head covering to wear with print clothing. As to buying cotton hats in the cool months, remember that women wear these hats INDOORS!
If you're a friend or relative of a newly diagnosed woman, you might want to entertain the idea of throwing her a Hat Party. Hat parties are becoming popular and they serve a number of purposes. The woman about to lose her hair is "showered" with hats, and perhaps more importantly, showered with the support of her friends and family. Hat Parties can help women deal with their impending baldness, plus provide them with lots of hats when needed.
