About Me and My Experience About Me and My Experience
My name is Mary Ann Weiss. On August 16, 1999, I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. IBC is often undetected by mammogram and ultrasound, and there is usually no lump that can be felt. It is the most aggressive form of breast cancer and also the most often misdiagnosed. To learn more about IBC, and it's unusual symptoms, please click here to access IBC Support.

At the time of my diagnosis, my oncologist told me, "This is a very aggressive cancer; we will beat it by treating it as aggressively as the law allows!" Together we beat the "beast" back. I am now NED (no evidence of disease) and grateful for every day of my life. Treatment did leave me with some permanent side effects: physical problems (which I refuse to whine about), and certain disabling memory deficits. My cancer "souvenirs" ended my ability to work at most jobs... My need for food and shelter continued... Thus, I took what I COULD do, combined it with what I wanted to do, and VOILA! I created CJ Hats.

LINKS
The following people and organizations have supported me in this endeavor, and I ask that you support them:
  • IBC Support - This online support group, dedicated to survivors and caregivers of inflammatory breast cancer, is absolutely excellent. I have been a member since my diagnosis and can attest to the strength, wisdom, and compassion of it's members. I strongly recommend this group to anyone seeking information about inflammatory breast cancer.
  • Inflammatory Breast Cancer Help - A site that answers questions about Inflammatory Breast Cancer, symptoms and treatments, links to support, other BC organizations and reciprocal entities associated with cancer.
  • National Alopecia Areata Foundation - The NAAF supports research to find a cure or acceptable treatment for alopecia areata, supports those with the disease, and educates the public about alopecia areata.
  • JJK Web Design - Offers full-service site design and hosting solutions for individuals, small businesses, and organizations.
